World Firefighters Games 2024

The City of Aalborg and World Firefighters Games Western Australia Inc. have made the decision to postpone the World Firefighters Games 2021 to 7 – 14 September 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is an unfortunate situation, albeit a necessary decision to make as the health and safety of all competitors and all those involved in the World Firefighters Games is of the highest priority.

We know that many firefighters, volunteers, and personnel otherwise involved with the fire and rescue services around the world, have eagerly awaited the opportunity to get together in the spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition during the World Firefighters Games 2021 in Aalborg. And throughout the pandemic, we, as organizers, have had a belief that the COVID-19 situation would be under control this spring for which reason The World Firefighters Games 2020 was first postponed to 2021 and then to 2024 in Denmark.

The World Firefighters Games has been held since 1990 where the first host city was Auckland, New Zealand. The last time the games visited Europe, was in 2008 in Liverpool.

Aalborg’s ambition is to create games where sport, community and unique experiences are in focus.
