PGI Safety to Host Particulate Protection Seminar

PGI Safety will be hosting the first ever Particulate Protection Seminar in the UK in Biggin Hill south of London on Tuesday 26 September 2023.

The event will look at the latest data on cancer within the fire service and the latest standards and technology being used to protect firefighters. It will also cover how these changes in standards will affect manufacturing processes and firefighting PPE including firefighter hoods, gloves and protective clothing.

Robbie Burns a cancer survivor of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service will be discussing his own journey and the extensive work to introduce particulate protection for firefighter safety plus Dave Matthews BSI / SEN / ISO / NFPAn will be providing an update on the standards and revisions cancer / PFAS’s.

They will be joined by other industry experts to provide an unparalleled look into protecting firefighters from cancer and dispel some of the myths around the performance, specifications and certifications of the latest firefighter protective equipment.

Fire and rescue services are recognising the importance of particulate protection as cancer continues to be the leading cause of disease among fire service personnel. As brigades consider new particulate blocking PPE, PGI Safety has seen a dramatic uptick within the UK and European markets for particulate blocking hoods.
