New Dust Certification for Wolf Safety: Wolf Safety, the world’s leading manufacturer of hazardous area portable and temporary lighting, enhances its ATEX LED Headtorches (HT-400 and HT-650) with further ATEX and IECEx certification for safe use in Zones 0, 1 and 2 for both potentially explosive gas, vapour and mist, and now Zones 20, 21 and 22 dust atmospheres.
With the new enhanced IIIB dust certification, the lightweight and high light output ATEX LED Headtorches now offer greater flexibility for hands free lighting, particularly where access is difficult, requiring climbing or crawling in potentially combustible dust environments found in the food, dairy, pharmaceutical, distillery, grain/powder storage and polymer industries, where a IIIB dust certification permits and with maximum surface temperature of 125C (HT-400) or 155C (HT-650).
Alex Jackson, Wolf Safety’s Managing Director comments “We are focused on continuously developing our products and expanding certification to maximise the reach of our already proven and trusted ATEX LED Headtorches for safe use in all explosive atmospheres. The new certification now gives end users the ability to use our products in a wide range of hazardous industrial dust applications, in addition to all group II industrial gas apparatus groups, for potentially explosive gases up to T4 temperature class, and group I M2 (HT-400) and M1 (HT-650) mining applications.”
The HT-400, for use in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22, is lightweight weighing only 90 grams including batteries, whilst the larger HT-650 model, for use in Zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22, weighs 180 grams. All are constructed from robust, highly durable, high impact thermoplastic materials, which are chemical resistant and electrostatic non-hazardous, and fitted with a shatterproof polycarbonate lens. The tilt adjustment mechanism allows the user to angle the light and the bespoke optics deliver a broad spot beam suitable for close up hands free tasks, and all are designed for single-handed switching and water/dust tight to a minimum of IP66.
With a ‘fitted for life’ high power LED light source, the HT-400 has up to 75 lumens of light output, with an optimum light duration of approximately 8.5 hours from a set of three AAA alkaline cells, and the HT-650 has a more powerful light output of up to 130 lumens with an optimum light duration of approximately 17 hours from a set of three AA alkaline cells.
Wolf Safety is committed to developing and enhancing its portable and temporary lighting to offer the concept of protection for Zone 0, 1 and 2, wherever an explosive, gas, vapour, mist or dust is present, creating a potential risk of explosion.
