Fomtec Alpha A-35 is a new generation of premixed firefighting agents totally free from fluorinated surfactants and polymers (PFAS). It is a ready-to use foam solution for Class A-type fires. Fomtec Alpha A-35 is a specially selected blend of surfactants and anti-freeze agents to combine high fire performance with the low freezing point of -35°C.

Description

Unlike regular foam premixes, Fomtec Alpha A -35 has excellent storage stability in excess of 10 years under correct storage conditions. It does not contain any hazardous substances and do not require any special labelling when transported. Due to its unique properties with combined low pour point, high fire performance and good shelf life it can be stored and installed in cold areas.

Application

Fomtec Alpha A-35 is intended to be used on Class A fires. It can be used with aspirated as well as non-aspirated discharge devices.

The equipment should be designed to the foam type to achieve optimal performance.

Fire performance & Foaming

Fomtec Alpha A-35 has been designed to give the best properties for a Class A fire extinguishing agent. The foaming properties are depending on the foam discharge device. Typical values with a UNI 86 foam nozzle give an expansion index of about 6 and a 25% drainage time of about 14 minutes.

Proportioning

Fomtec Alpha A-35 is a ready-made premix solution and should be used as supplied without any dilution.

Compability

Fomtec Alpha A -35 can be used together with foam compatible powders and other expanded foams. For material compatibility please refer to Fomtec Technical Advices FTA 20 addressing the topic.

Environmental

Enviro Alpha A-35 is non-hazardous, biodegradable substance formulated using raw materials specially selected for their fire performance and their environmental profile. The product is totally free from fluorinated surfactants and polymers and other organohalogens, and therefore it does not contain any PFAS. The handling of spills of concentrate or foam solutions should however be undertaken according to local regulations. Normally sewage systems can dispose foam solution based on this type of foam concentrate, but local sewage operators should be consulted. Storage/Shelf life

Stored in original unbroken packaging the product will have a long shelf life. Shelf life in excess of 10 years will be found in temperate climates. As with all foams, shelf life will be depen-dent on storage temperatures and conditions. Inspection/Testing/Maintenance

The foam premix solution should be tested annually. The testing should be made by an approved laboratory certified to assess firefighting foam quality according to relevant standards, such as NFPA 11, EN 13565-2, EN 1568 or IMO MSC.1Circ. 1312. Storage containers should be inspected and reevaluated for the suitability of the storage location regarding temperature fluctuations (temperature should be as stable as possible). Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided.

Packaging

Fomtec supplies this product in 25 litre and 5 US gallon cans, 200 litre and 55 US gallon drums, 1000 litre and 265 US gallon IBC containers. Larger bulk supply is available on special request.
