Colorado Fire Academy Week 1
Follow along as SMFR PIO Connor Wist takes you through 16 weeks of fire academy with recruit class 19-1. In the first week recruits learn military protocol, receive their pride axe, go through donning and doffing of bunker gear and practice water flowing.

SMFR is an Internationally Accredited, ISO Class 1 agency protecting 287 square miles of the south metro Denver, Colorado area. The area includes portions of Arapahoe, Douglas and Jefferson Counties including Bow Mar, Castle Pines, Columbine Valley, Cherry Hills Village, Foxfield, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Lone Tree, Louvires and Parker. SMFR is a career fire and rescue agency with 29 Stations overseen by 1 District Chief, 5 Battalion Chiefs and 1 EMS District Supervisor. There are 22 Engine Companies, 6 Ladder Companies, 19 ALS Medic Units, 14 Wildland Brush Trucks, 6 Water Tenders, 3 ARFF Units, 2 Water Rescue Units, 1 Rescue Company, 1 Haz-Mat, 1 Decon Unit, 1 Tracked Vehicle, 1 Foam Unit and 1 Large Area Ventilation Fan.
