Dry Land, Wet Work, Same DNA: Team Wendy Unveils New EXFIL® Rescuer Helmets for SAR Missions

Search-and-rescue (SAR) teams require mission-ready head protection that performs reliably across unpredictable environments. Responding to this growing operational demand, Team Wendy has launched its new EXFIL® Rescuer helmet platform purpose-built for both land-based and maritime rescue missions. Developed through direct collaboration with active SAR professionals, the EXFIL Rescuer Helmets deliver advanced impact protection, adaptability, and comfort for responders working from terrain to tide.

A Unified Platform for Real-World Rescue – EXFIL Rescuer Helmets

At the core of Team Wendy’s new platform are two specialised models: the EXFIL Rescuer for ground operations and the EXFIL Maritime Rescuer for water, hurricane, and swift-water response. Both helmets share a lightweight, impact-modified polycarbonate shell and incorporate Zorbium® foam technology to deliver blunt-impact mitigation without sacrificing comfort.

Available in high-visibility red or yellow, the EXFIL Rescuer Helmets are engineered to support fast movement and increased situational awareness critical advantages in high-risk rescue scenarios.

Built Light, Built Right: Key Features of the EXFIL Rescuer

The EXFIL Rescuer weighs just 1.59 lbs, giving responders mobility and long-wear comfort during prolonged operations. Additional mission-focused features include:

  • Aluminum shroud for helmet-mounted lights, night vision and thermal devices
  • EXFIL signature geometry for balanced, lightweight protection
  • Velcro® pattern for strobes, patches, and top-mounted lighting
  • CAM FIT™ retention system with BOA® micro-adjustment for even pressure distribution
  • Accessory-ready rails compatible with visors, shields, and Peltor™ adapters
  • Low-profile chin strap for secure, comfortable fit

These enhancements ensure the EXFIL Rescuer meets the demands of wilderness rescue, structural collapse, and urban-interface operations.

For Water Rescue: EXFIL Maritime Rescuer

Designed specifically for aquatic operations, the EXFIL Maritime Rescuer maintains the same foundation as the land model while incorporating a moisture-shedding, neutral-buoyancy liner. Its under-the-chin retention system prevents interference with snorkels, comms, and hoods addressing common pain points raised by SAR swimmers.

Team Wendy’s engineering eliminates “bucketing,” where water-filled liners lift or shift the helmet ensuring the equipment supports rather than disrupts the rescue effort.

Science-Driven Protection for SAR Professionals

Unlike repurposed tactical or fire helmets, the EXFIL Rescuer Helmets were developed using Team Wendy’s advanced applied science program. The company’s DREW (Dummy for Rotational Evaluation of Wearables) rig evaluates rotational and linear forces reflecting real-world head impacts such as debris strikes, wall collisions, and falls.

This research contributes to next-generation liner systems and pad geometries, directly benefiting SAR teams who rely on high-performance protection in challenging environments.

Compliance and Availability

Both EXFIL Rescuer models meet BS EN1385:2012 standards for whitewater performance. Agencies can purchase through authorized dealers or visit teamwendy.com to explore model options.
