The official launch of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency in October 2016 provides the tools EU members need to meet the civil protection and border challenges of the 21st century. One of the significantly strengthened tasks of the EuBCGA will be to support EU Search & Rescue (SAR) operations.
At the same time, France is creating a national cluster for Civil Protection (CP) in Nimes, France which was recently endorsed by Christos Stylianides, the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management (EU-HACM). The new cluster initiative will provide CP focus so that appropriate national and international industry will be able to supply technologies and services to EU civil protection operators who will be attracted to the dedicated CP cluster.

The greatest operational opportunity to be addressed at SAR 2017 will be how to pool and share SAR resources with other European and International nations and the development of live exercises.
All EU Civil Protection and Coastguards are being invited to participate. Invitations to VIP delegations will also be extended to all non-EU civil defence and MoDs from Africa, Asia, Middle East, CIS, North America and Latin America. SAR-related experts will take part in the conference, exhibition, fixed and rotary winged static display and live aerial demonstrations.
