AccuSense
Supplied by Shawcity Limited.
The new AccuSense Chemical Recognition System from Seer Technologies allows you to detect, identify, monitor and quantify and multitude of different gases.
AccuSense is a laboratory-quality chemical recognition system that provides concentration levels of multiple chemicals simultaneously in a field-portable or fixed-position scenario.
AccuSense was designed to meet First Responder requirements but can be used in a multitude of industries and applications including; confined space entry, soil analysis and perimeter monitoring of hot and cold zones to ensure public and employee safety.
This new detection system offers a 3 minute analysis of up to 21 chemicals such as Hydrogen Chloride, Sulphur Dioxide, Ethylene Oxide and Phosgene simultaneously, with the ability to wirelessly transmit data to your PC and view data on the easy to use intuitive software package.
The instrument uses Dual-Hyphenated Gas Chromatography (DHGC) for the separation of chemicals and a thermal detection system for chemical identification and can measure in both ppb and ppm ranges. Detection limits of the device will vary chemical to chemical, but in general the detection limits are in the low parts-per-million (ppm) range, with the ability to detect all chemicals within the database below its respective Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) level.
The rugged housing of the AccuSense instrument is made out A356 aluminium, which allows for easy decontamination after use and allows for operation in a wide variety of environments.

So how does the AccuSense work?
To begin, chemicals enter through the inlet into the pre-concentrator which is a carbon bed that traps chemicals. The chemicals are then heated and released where they flow into coulomb 1. Chemicals then get absorbed into coating at different time intervals.
The time that each chemical travels before stopping helps to determine potential chemical IDS.
From coulomb 1, the chemicals travel to coulomb 2 where a second separation begins which is based on boiling point. Meanwhile, ambient air enters a reference path and chemicals present are scrubbed giving you a ‘clean’ air reference gas.
A thermal comparison is then conducted between the sensor plate and the ‘clean’ air reference gas which will determine the chemical for you.
This process will be repeated and will display analysis results every 3 minutes.
Results are transmitted wirelessly to your PC. You will then be notified of the chemicals that were detected and their concentration levels. A sliding bar scale and visual alarm will notify you if the chemical concentration is dangerous. The unit itself also has a visual-light emitting diode alarm system (LEDs) which will notify the user of the hazard level of the chemical(s) detected (High, Medium, Low).
This highly intuitive detection system is available at Shawcity now. Please contact us for a Hire or Buy quote or a complimentary demonstration.

Applications for the AccuSense unit include:
Hazmat
Hazmat teams require the flexibility to respond to a multitude of known and unknown situations involving exposure to dangerous gaseous chemicals. Hazmat teams need to be empowered with the proper knowledge to formulate and implement a proper strategy for containment and resolution, which AccuSense will help provide. The unit can be used in down-range deployment, perimeter monitoring or to set up a hot/col decontamination line.
Law enforcement
Law Enforcement personnel are often the first to arrive on scene. As true First Responders, they are confronted with unique requirements that AccuSense can address.
For the Officer in the field responding to an incident, AccuSense provides the ability to quickly and accurately assess a situation for potential chemical danger, therefore bolstering protection protocols and enhanced personnel safety.
MILITARY
For the military personnel tasked with completing down-range missions related to chemical attacks, AccuSense provides the most comprehensive laboratory-grade field device available today. The platform that the current Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC) unit has been built upon is easily configured to accommodate the need for detection of various Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs).
The Drug Court Probation Officer can employ AccuSense to efficiently develop and maintain a profile on the use of drugs and alcohol in probationer domiciles.
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams can use AccuSense to develop a full tactical location assessment before deployment of resources. Applying AccuSense in potentially hazardous response situations significantly enhances the ability to protect personnel, equipment, and the overall populace.
SITE PROTECTION
AccuSense is well-suited for implementation in fixed locations where public safety is of utmost importance, including high-target buildings, subways, vehicle screening areas, and factories. Wireless and wired communications capabilities are available with the AccuSense unit, and provide an unprecedented level of flexibility in a chemical detection device.
AccuSense will easily communicate over an existing network, and can be operated through battery power in the event of a power failure. Since AccuSense uses standard network communication protocols, it can easily be integrated into an existing security/monitoring system.
Portable units can also be utilized to supplement fixed installations when conditions warrant additional monitoring. Because AccuSense can be configured with established and/or custom Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs) databases, the ability to protect your facility is enhanced over other detectors that have more limited capabilities.
Examples of sites where the AccuSense can be used:
- Government Sites: Key Military and Government Facilities
- Infrastructure Sites: Communications, Data and Switching Hubs, Transportation Hubs and Depots, Oil and Gas Refineries and Storage Facilities, Nuclear Power Facilities, Water Supply Facilities, Dams, Bridges, Pipelines, Chemical Plants, Airports, Subways, and Ports
- Commercial Sites: Large, Densely Populated Office Buildings, Large Sports Venues, Internet Backbone Data Centres and Communications Hubs
INDUSTRIAL
Industrial chemical manufacturing sites offer a diverse range of deployment scenarios for AccuSense due to the number of chemicals that are manufactured, handled, and transported on a daily basis. The flexibility of AccuSense to be deployed in a fixed-position format or as a field-portable instrument enhances its capabilities in scenarios of all kinds.
Worker Safety Monitoring:
AccuSense can be set up to run continuously in a manufacturing plant environment to monitor for manufactured chemicals as well as their by-products, which will give plant managers the peace of mind necessary to ensure proper protection against chemical threats for their day to day work force.
Fence line Monitoring:
AccuSense can be deployed at strategic fence line or property boundary locations to narrow down the source of unknown toxic vapours.
Process Monitoring:
Insert AccuSense along critical chemical manufacturing monitoring points to ensure there are no leaks that can minimize output and lead to potential fines from regulatory agencies.
On-Site Response Teams:
For the specific needs of on-site industrial response teams, AccuSense can be deployed to a specific area of interest at an industrial facility if there is a known or a suspected release.
